Important Parent Announcements

At the beginning of the 2015 - 2016 school year, middle school students will be included in laptop program, formally called the Digital Learning Environment (DLE) Initiative, in Richland One.  Read below for a brief explanation of the process.

Through the 1:1 (one-to-one) component of DLE, Dell laptop computers were issued to students in grades 9-11 during the 2014-2015 school year. Incoming ninth-grade students will be the only high school group that will receive laptops this year. Students in grades 10-12 will use the laptops they were issued last year. From August 31-October 2, 2015, laptops will be distributed to middle school students (grades 6-8). Each student also will receive a backpack. Mobile devices will be distributed to elementary students in grades 3-5 starting in January 2016.

Schools will announce and hold orientation sessions for students and parents before the devices are distributed. Parental consent forms and student pledge forms are provided. Student and parent responsibilities are outlined in the DLE Handbook. Each student is required to pay a $30 insurance fee per school year. The fee covers potential loss, theft or damage to the device. Students turn in the devices, which are property of Richland One, at the end of the school year.

For more details about the Digital Learning Environment (DLE) Initiative, please click on the link Richland One DLE Initiative (Laptop Program).

St. Andrews Middle School will hold its second Parent Orientation Session on Thursday, August 27 at 5:00 PM.  Parents can pay the $30 insurance fee (cash or money order ONLY) and sign the consent forms at that session.

Starting in August 2013, ALL seventh graders were REQUIRED to get the Tdap vaccine to protect them against whooping cough (pertussis). Students who haven’t had a Tdap vaccination may not be allowed to attend school.  For more information, please visit www.scdhec.gov/scimmunize or call 1-800-27SHOTS (1-800-277-4687)

To all Fall Sports Athletes:

In order to participate in football, volleyball, cheerleading, high school cross country, high school girls tennis each student/athlete has to complete and turn in a doctor’s physical, permission form, concussion form, and $20 (cash or money order) for insurance. Forms may be picked up from Coach Mears or the front office.

There is a mandatory football meeting for students and parents or guardians on Thursday, August 20th at 6:00pm. Please pick up football letter before Thursday from Coach Mears, Coach Davis, or the front office.

St. Andrews Middle School faculty and staff strive daily to provide your child with a safe educational environment.  We have outlined procedures for car riders as well as for students who ride the bus or walk to school.  Please click below to review these procedures.
